4 B MidState Stars Soccer team wins 1-0 - Submitted by Mike Zimmerman
Why the world calls Soccer (Futbol), " The Beautiful Game", was very evident in the great game of keep-away that the MidState Stars played Sunday against the Red Skins from Sullivan/Covington school district. Controlling the majority of the game, the defense-minded Stars had many opportunities to rattle the net, but were only able to come out with a 1 - 0 win. 10 minutes into the second half, Lawrence Knapp from Minonk, passed the ball using the indoor backboard, to the foot of Dylan Zimmerman, from Minonk, who punched it by the goal keeper. It was the relentless pursuit and persistent saves by Stars goal keeper Mike Snyder of El Paso and his defenders Bryan Andrews of El Paso and Anthony Duran of Bloomington that prevented any chances for the Red Skins to tie the score. This week the MidState Stars prepare to take on the Sting Rays from the Blue Mound/Macon school district.
