Fieldcrest upsets Ridgeview for Midstate title - Submitted by Editor
Joshua Krone's last second 3-pointer gave Fieldcrest(15-6) a come from behind, 46-45, victory over favored Ridgeview(19-2). After being down 12 points at the start of the fourth quarter, the cold shooting Knights caught fire and scored 9 straight points to start the greatest comeback in Fielcrest's history. Ridgeview also missed 8 out of 13 free throws in the final quarter. Krone led the Knights in scoring with 11 points while Kody Russell added 9 points and Marcus Sellers had 8 points. |

Roanoke-Benson downs Fieldcrest girls - Submitted by Editor
Roanoke-Benson came from behind to defeat Fieldcrest, 48-31, in the Fieldcrest Regional Monday night. The Rockets outscored the Knights 29-8 in the second half. The scoring leaders for Fieldcrest were Nicole Ropp and Diane Sczepanski with 7 points each. The Knights ended their season at 9-16.

Fieldcrest West advances to State semifinals - Submitted by Editor
Fieldcrest West crushed Springfield Christ the King, 50-26, in the opening round of the Illinois Elementary School Association Class 7A state basketball tournament at Clinton.
Matt Stevenson was the top scorer for the Knights (23-2) with 16 points while Nathan Ropp had 11. Fieldcrest will play Chrisman Scottland (22-1) in the semi-final game at 6: p.m. today.

Fieldcrest beat Tremont, 69-54, Friday night behind the 3-point shooting of Kody Russell who made six 3-pointers and 24 points.
Jarrod Cook had 15 points for the Knights (17-6) while Joshua Krone added 13 points and Jake Martin had 10 points.

Junior Jarrod Cook led the Knights(18-6) in scoring with 16 points as the Knights led throughout the game. Jake Martin and Kody Russell both had 11 points while Michael Modro added 8 points and Joshua Krone had 6 points to round out the balanced scoring for the Knights.

Fieldcrest plays Lexington Wednesday night in second round action at El Paso.

The Knights (21-6) were led by Kody Russell with 24 points, including 9 straight points in the 4 quarter. Jake Martin and Michael Modro each had 7 points. Fieldcrest plays Prairie Central Friday night in the championship game.

Prairie Central defeated Fieldcrest in overtme, 60-59, in the El Paso-Gridley Class A Regional finals. It was a close game with neither team holding more than a 4 point lead. Prairie shot 57% from the field to Fieldcrest's 35%. Joshua Krone was the scoring leader for the Knights with 23 points while Jarrod Cook ended with 14 points. Fieldcrest finished the season with a commendable 21-7 record.

Minonk Instructional Blue (7-8) Take 3rd at BANTAM Tourney - Submitted by Todd Cremer
Minonk Instructional Legue Blue (7-8 year olds) took home 3rd place trophy in the 2005 M.W.S.B.P BANTAM Legue tournament played in Washburn this weekend. The team won 3 out of 4 games for this honor.

Minonk Instructional Blue places 1st in Around the Horn competition - Submitted by Todd Cremer
The Minonk Instructional Legue Blue (7-8 year olds) placed 1st in the AROUND THE HORN competition in the BANTAM Legue Tournament this weekend in Washburn. This competition was a timed event as the ball was thrown from position to position around the field. Blue had the fastest time on Friday which put them in the finals on Sunday in which they again had the fastest time. The team received a 1st place medal for their efforts.

Lexington held Fieldcrest scoreless in the second half as the Minutemen scored 28 points in the second half to overcome a 32-14 halftime deficit and defeat the Knights, 42-32. Jake Martin led Fieldcrest in rushing with two TD runs of 7 and 40 yards while Kody Russell returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and also scored on receptions of 24 and 35 yards from Kurt Wilson. The Knights are now 0-2 for the season.

Fieldcrest defeated Flanagan, 28-9, in a game at Minonk Friday night. Fieldcrest was led by quarterback Kurt Wilson who threw a touchdown pass to Darin Meierhofer and ran 6 yards for a touchdown to finish the first half. Jake Martin had a 9 yard touchdown run and Tim Klieber finished the scoring with a 25 yard run. Martin led the Knights in rushing with 139 yards while Wilson completed 5 of 8 passes for 69 yards. Fieldcrest is now 1-2 for the season.

Heyworth rushed for 269 yards to defeat Fieldcrest, 26-12, Friday night at Heyworth. Marcus Sellers scored on a 48 yard pass from Kurt Wilson and Doug Martin rushed for 41 yards including a 1 yard plunge for a touchdown to account for Fieldcrest's scoring. The Knights are now 1-3.

Fieldcrest won their homecoming defeating Woodland, 35-7, Friday night. Jake Martin led the Knights rushing for 206 yards and 3 touchdowns. Quarterback Kurt Wilson passed for 131 yards and scored on a one yard plunge while Kody Russell scored on a 27 yard run. The Knights are now 2-3.

Deer Creek-Mackinaw overcame an early Fieldcrest lead to defeat the Knights, 33-12, Friday night at Mackinaw. Ranked number one in the state's Class 1A, Dee-Mack whitewashed Fieldcrest 20-0 in the second half. Fieldcrest scored on TD passes from quarterback Kurt Wilson to Kurt Heider for 9 yards and a 22 yarder to Marcus Seller. The Knights are now 2-4.

Ridgeview beats Fieldcrest in OT, 27-26 - Submitted by
A failed two point conversion by Fieldcrest in overtime allowed Ridgeview to slip away with a 27-26 win over the Knights Friday night at Colfax. Fieldcrest scored 2 TD's in the 4th quarter to knot the score at 20-20 but a missed extra point kick prevented the Knights from defeating Ridgeview who is ranked Number 7 in the State Class 1A. Both teams scored a touchdown in overtime. Jake Martin had 2 touchdowns for the Knights while Josh North and quarterback Kurt Wilson each had a touchdown.

Fieldcrest held off a fourth period scoring threat by Tremont to defeat the Turks, 22-15, at Minonk Friday night. Fieldcrest got to an early lead and held a 22-8 lead at half-time. The Knights amassed 405 yards in total offense with a 14 yard run by quarterback Kurt Wilson and 2 touchdown runs by Jake Martin. Fieldcrest is now 3-5.

Fieldcrest ended its season on a high note by crushing Tri-Point, 54-0. Jake Martin led the Knights with 3 touchdowns and 165 yards rushing. Josh North added 2 TDs while Tim Klieber ran a 57 yard TD. Quarterback Kurt Wilson started the scoring with a 60 yard run and also threw a 35 yard touchdown pass to Darin Meierhofer. Fieldcrest finished the season at 4-5.

Fieldcrest started their season with a 56-45 victory over Iroquois West in the first round of the Dwight Thanksgiving Tournament Tuesday night. Kiel Melvin led the Knights with 19 points, including three 3-pointers while Jarrod Cook added 15 points and Logan Park had 8 points.
Fieldcrest continued their winning ways by beating Beecher, 83-54 Wednesday night in the Dwight Tournament. Jarrod Cook again led the Knights with 24 points including four 3-pointers. Joe Stasell had 14 points, Kiel Melvin added 12 and Logan Park had nine points for the Knights as the Knights improved their record to 2-0.

The Knights balancing scoring attack was led by Jake Martin with 17 points, Logan Park with 14 points, Jarrod Cook with 12 points, and Darin Meierhofer and Kiel Melvin with 7 points each. Park was named the tournament MVP.
