Dasher Hotel

The Dasher Hotel is still located at the northwest corner of Sixth and Walnut Streets. It was opened in 1891 and was a favorite staying over place for people passing through Minonk on the trains. One of the stories that has been going around for years is that Walt Disney stayed overnight in the Dasher Hotel back in the 1920's while passing through on the train going to California. The legend states that he created Mickey Mouse that night in his room while doodling on a piece of paper.
