Webber House Hotel

This is one of the oldest pictures taken of Minonk. The scene is looking east from the 500 block of Chestnut Street where the Country Florist is now located. Across the IC tracks is the Webber House, a hotel on Oak Street. It was located in the middle of Oak Street immediately to the north of where Joe's Pizza is now located.

Note to the left is the Old Methodist church on the site of where the present church is located. The frame house to the far left on Oak Street is still standing.

This scene is believed to be a flag-raising ceremony on July 4th in 1888.

The picture at the right shows an expanded view of the picture above.
