This text is taken from a booklet entitled Minonkl High School Memorial 1919. The booklet
lists the veterans from World War 1 and gives a brief summary of their military career.
The booklet was provided by Kenneth Rients who received the booklet from his mother, Louise Rients. Donna
Rae Eilts prepared the computer text from the booklet. We are deeply grateful to both of them for their efforts
in providing us with an important part of the history of Minonk. The pictures to the right are of the
teachers at Minonk Community High School in 1919.
DESIRING TO DULY COMMEMORATE
THE SERVICES AND SACRIFICES
RENDERED BY ALUMNI AND FORMER STUDENTS OF
THE MINONK HIGH SCHOOL
DURING THE STRUGGLE FOR DEMOCRACY
IN THE RECENT WORLD WAR
WE,
THE CLASS OF 1919,
DEDICATE THIS MEMORIAL
F O R E W O R D
HEREIN have been complied short sketches of the War Activities of all Alumni and former Students of the Minonk High School, concerning whom it has been possible to gather any information. Although a response to inquiries sent out by the Senior class committee concerning individuals and their activities was not always obtainable, and often insufficient, the editors have attempted to be strictly accurate and to always give due consideration. The sketches have been placed in the order of sacrifices made and services rendered in the Great Cause of Democracy. The desire is that this memorial may, in a small way, at least, aid in keeping alive the memory of the efforts put forth by our boys in the great struggle for freedom and for the protection of our ideas.
