Minonk gets ready for Parade of Lights

Wednesday, November 24, 2004 Posted 11:30 p.m. by Jack Jochums
The Minonk Business Assoc. is making preparations for the Parade of Lights which will be Sat. Dec. 4th at 6:30 p.m. Businesses will be open during the day and after the parade. The businesses and city crew have been busy decorating over the past week. Starting mid afternoon, there will be two locations for crafts, Pops & the former Picket Fence bldg. Also at Pops, Jeff Elliott will be signing his newly published book beginning at 4:00 p.m..

There will be fireworks before the parade. The parade will feature new entries as well as past entries. Mr. & Mrs Santa will be in the parade and will meet the children at the city hall after the parade. Each child will receive a bag of goodies. Bring your cameras! After the parade there will be free barrel train rides for the kids. These will begin at the corner of Main and 6th Streets in front of Pops. There will be plenty of time to see Mr & Mrs Santa and still get the barrel train rides.

Stop in the businesses for treats and also to make purchases for the holidays. Restaurants and bars will be open to serve the crowd before and after the parade.

Come join us as we open up the holiday season with a lighted parade, shopping for the holidays and good fellowship. All parade entries should be at the Fieldcrest H.S. parking lot by 5:45 p.m. If you have entries or questions about the parade and activities contact Jack Jochums at 309-432-2517 ext. 5. Leave a message if necessary.

Thanks for supporting the Minonk businesses.
