Minonk's newly completed food pantry is open for business. The metal structure was built adjacent to the city hall chambers and behind the ambulance shed. The building will provide a permanent home for the food pantry. Previously, the food pantry had been operated out of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and other buildings until it was determined that more space was needed.

The $30,000 building was built by American Builders and financed by the Minonk Township and the City of Minonk. The city donated the land for the building and also contributed 25% towards the cost. Much of the labor towards construction was donated. The project to build the food pantry was spear-headed by a committee organized by Reverend Dan Gansch-Boythe and Pastor Pam Gansch-Boythe of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
