Fieldcrest Approves FY21 Budget; Appoints Melinda Tiraboschi to Board

The Fieldcrest Board of Education met Wednesday night at the Fieldcrest Intermediate School in Toluca.

The board appointed Melinda Tiraboschi to fill Charles Lohr's board seat which expires in April. Mr. Lohr resigned from the board last month.

In other action, the board approved several items that included the FY21 Budget, the Annual Financial Report and the Woodford Co Special Education Cooperative Budget of which Fieldcrest is a member.

The board also approved Union Roofing's (Chenoa) bid for partial roof replacement at the middle school. This is the roof over the small gym which sustained damage in the September storm and is fully covered by insurance. This is the last storm work to be completed.

A resolution to move remaining capital projects funds of $75,323.55 into Operations and Maintenance was approved. These are remaining funds from the Annex project that took place last fall.

The board will now have 2 FHS representatives at each monthly Board of Education meeting. The representatives are Seniors Rebecca Hudson and Rachel Schmitt.

Early graduate applications were approved for 12 students who are headed off to the military, college, and full-time work. Superintendent Dr. Kari Rockwell said "this is a strong group of mature and motivated students!"

Kitchen/cafeteria work to be included in the FHS Health/Life Safety work that will begin next spring. The estimated cost prepared by Midwest Constructions Professionals is $1,036,054.

A social/emotional learning curriculum for all K-5 classrooms and a pilot program for select rooms in grades 6-12 was approved at a cost of $4718.

Dr. Rockwell said the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation made a donation of $300 to be used for the Boys Basketball Program for COVID relief efforts.

In personnel matters Shelby Halley was appointed FIS Assistant Cook, Shelly Barth moved from regular bus driver to substitute only. Extra Duty Assignment included Jaclynn Nix as HS BB Cheer,Volunteer Assignment included Cody Miles in HS Track and Chuck Volker was granted a leave of absence from November 30 to March 1.
