A sudden wind storm raced through Minonk at 2:00 a.m. Monday morning knocking down trees and branches. The storm's path entered Minonk at the southwest side of the city knocking down trees along West Fourth Street. The storm continued on a north east path through the city. Locust Street between 5th and 7th streets was the hardest hit. A tree branch damaged the roof of the Methodist Church at the corner of 6th and Locust. The rain came down hard and fast also dumping up to an inch of rain in less than 20 minutes. The storm is the latest in a series of wind storms that has hit the Minonk area this summer.

This tree fell in the front yard of Angela Carver at 6th and Mary.
