This Saturday,
July 18th,
the Minonk to Peoria St Jude Runners will be carrying out their mission in a
different way. For 24-hours straight, Saturday
8 am to Sunday 8 am, over 80 runners/walkers/bike riders will be coming together
(social distancing style) for the kids of St Jude. To
kick off the 24-hour relay event, we are asking EVERYONE to come line
Main Street (Chestnut Street) Saturday at 8:00 am, from 4th Street
to Millennium Park, to cheer on all the participants. This
will be the only opportunity to see them all together. We also ask that throughout the day you watch
for these individuals on the roadways. They will be spread out on the route and
no road closures will be in effect.
We are just asking a
couple simple things from you.
1.
Please
keep your pets tied up or on a leash if they are outside during these hours
(Saturday 8 am-8 pm)
2.
If
you live on the route and can head outside to your porch/front yard, please
cheer them on.
3.
Starting
at 8 pm Saturday night, please come out to Millennium Park to see the beautiful
luminaries that will light the path while participants walk throughout the late-night
hours.
THANK YOU for your continued
support of the Minonk to Peoria St Jude run. This is our 10th year raising money for the St Jude families
and while this doesn't look at all how we thought it would, we have done our
best to raise funds for this worthy cause and again appreciate ALL your
support! The telethon will still take
place on WEEK 25 News starting at 6:30pm.
Be sure to tune in to WEEK 25 at 7:12 pm as
Minonk will present their check to the kids at that time.

With all that has
happened in 2020, we decided to put our 10-year million-dollar goal behind us
and raise whatever we could for the kids and families of St Jude. We are forever grateful for all the generous
donations we have received thus far. Unlike
previous years, we did not send out fundraising sponsorship letters, as small
businesses were greatly affected by having to temporarily close their doors and
families were without paychecks. Through
these tough times, we still had some sponsors who sent in donations early and
we wanted to recognize them for their amazing generosity.
2020 sponsors will also
be recognized next year in addition to our 2021 sponsors since they won't be
given the appreciation they fully deserve.
