Rutherford, Johnson to host Thank-a-Vet Rally in Pontiac

Springfield - Senator Dan Rutherford (R-Pontiac) and Congressman Tim Johnson (R-Sidney) will host a Thank-A-Vet Rally in Pontiac. Featuring Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Leo S. Mackay, Jr., Ph.D, the event will be held at the Pontiac Elks Club on Friday, May 9.

-Congressman Johnson and I would like to personally invite all veterans and those affected by the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, and their family and friends to attend this special event,- said Rutherford.

The doors open at 7:30 a.m. for doughnuts, coffee and juice. The program and music will begin at 8:00 a.m.

-Honoring our veterans and showing support for their families is even more important at times like these, we encourage everyone to come out and show their support at the Thank-a-Vet Rally,- said Johnson.

The rally is sponsored by WJEZ radio, who will broadcast live from the Elk's Club during the rally. Displays will also be set up with literature on Veterans' Benefits
