Minonk alumni meet in Phoenix

A group of Minonk and MDR graduates gathered for a multi-class reunion in Phoenix from April 15 - 17. The reunion was organized by Martha (Eikenmeyer) Owens with help from Pam (Palmer) Goy and Barth Weistart. Alumni came from Illinois, Colorado, California, Indiana and the Phoenix area.

The group met for dinner Thursday night at the Rawhide Western Town and Steakhouse. Friday morning the group toured the Desert Botanical Gardens followed by a tour of the Heard Museum in the afternoon. Dinner that evening was at the El Torito Mexican Restaurant.

On Saturday the group toured Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright's western office. That was followed by lunch at the Grapevine Restaurant in Old Town. The weekend events was capped by a meal at The Bamboo Room Saturday evening.

Those attending the events were Jim and Martha Owens, Dave Gutherz, Bob and Joyce Schmitz, Dave and Joanne Seifert, Jim and Lee Ringe, Dave Uphoff and Judy Olson, Barth Weistart, Tom and Linda Ford, Carol Jo (Janssen) and Walt Finley, Carol Woltzen Nelson, Joan Johnson Schneider, Ray Schneider, Pam (Palmer) and Chuck Goy, and John and Joan (Wire) Hartzler.

The weather was beautiful in Phoenix and everyone enjoyed getting together reminiscing and getting caught up to date on events in their personal lives. Martha Owens said that she would like to make this an annual event and encourages other Minonk alumni to participate in next year's event.
