Francis R. Schneider - October 31, 2001

The funeral Mass for Francis "Ollie" Schneider, 81, of Sun Lakes, Ariz., formerly of Minonk, will be at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 10 at St. Patrick's Church, Minonk. Burial will be in Minonk City Cemetery, with American Legion honors.

He died Wednesday (Oct. 31, 2001) at his home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Minonk Emergency Squad, Minonk.

He was born Sept. 4, 1920, in rural Minonk, the son of John and Rose Hindert Schneider. He married Joan Johnson on May 29, 1943, in Hattiesburg, Miss. She survives.

Survivors also include two sons, Raymond of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Rick of Hernando, Miss.; seven brothers and two sisters.

Also surviving are two grandchildren, Erik of Charlotte, N.C.; and Heidi of Greensboro, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Elissa and Katie Marie.

His parents preceded him in death.

Mr. Schneider was an army veteran, having served in Europe during World War II.

He held numerous jobs throughout his life, including working at one time for Railway Express Agency. For several years, he was a member of the Minonk Volunteer Fire Department, the Minonk City Council, and he also had managed the Minonk City Recreation Program.

After retiring from full-time employment in 1986, he moved to Memphis, Tenn., and subsequently to Sun Lakes, Ariz., in 1999.
