Kenneth Sakes - January 10, 2002

Benson: Kenneth Sakes 86 of Benson passed away at 2:15 PM Thursday January 10, 2002 at Beulah Land Christian Home, Flanagan after several months of Illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Sakes will be 11:00 Saturday January 12, 2002 at Folkers - Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk with the Rev. Daniel Gansch-Boythe officiating. Burial will follow in the Minonk TWP Cemetery, Minonk. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at Folkers - Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul-s United Church of Christ, Minonk.

Mr. Sakes was born June 3, 1915 in Benson the son of Charles and Lena Miller Sakes. He married Leona Stokowski on July 30, 1939 in Minonk. Surviving is his wife of 62 years, two sons Gary Sakes of Mapleton and Rick Sakes of LaSalle, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren

Mr. Sakes was a member of St. Paul-s United Church of Christ, Minonk. He farmed all his life in the Benson Area. He drove the Roanoke Benson school bus for seventeen years. He enjoyed all sports and went to many games. He also loved big band music, and played in an ochestra in the 1930-s..
