The graveside service of Gerald E. Rutherford, 78, of Minonk, will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Folkers-Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk.

He died at 2:10 a.m. Thursday (March 15, 2001) at his residence.

Memorials may be made to BroMenn Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Rutherford was born July 13, 1922, at Cisne, a son of James and Bessie Craig Rutherford. He married Charlotte Bunn March 23, 1940, in Morganfield, Ky. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Fred (Janis) Rutherford, Oregon, and Jerry Joe (Theresa) Rutherford, Germantown Hills; and one brother, Melvin Rutherford, Chenoa.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Brent, Brian, Susan (Buford), Grant, Jason, Jeremy and Jennifer; and 10 great-grandchildren, Steven, Heather, Jordan, Amelia, Alexis, Katelyn, Jared, Alec, Andrew and Ashton.

His parents, two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Rutherford owned and operated Rutherford Service Station in Minonk for more than 40 years. After retiring, he continued to operate the local vacuum service store.
