Funeral services for Mr. Matter will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday August 8, 2001 at St. Paul-s United Church of Christ, Minonk with the Rev. Craig Swenson officiating. Burial will follow in the Minonk TWP Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Folkers Froelich Memorial Home and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to BroMenn Hospice, American Cancer Society or St. Paul-s United Church of Christ.

Mr. Matter was born June 15, 1919 in Clayton TWP the son of Henry and Mary Meinhold Matter. He Married Velma L. Alltop on September 16, 1951 in Minonk. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter Peggy (Lynn) Barth of El Paso, one son Terry (Laurel) Matter of Minonk, three grandsons Randy Barth of El Paso, Corey and Brandon Matter of Minonk, one granddaughter Julie Barth of El Paso, one great granddaughter Chloe Barth of El Paso, and one sister Mabel (Lloyd) Krahling of Morton.

His parents, seven brothers and seven sisters preceded Mr. Matter in death.

Mr. Matter was a member of St. Paul-s United Church of Christ, Minonk and was a past council member at the church.

Mr. Matter was a veteran of WW II serving in the European Theater. He was a member of the Minonk American Legion.
