Charles W. Land - July 2, 2002

Charles W. Land 78 of 315 Oak St. Minonk passed away at 12:30 PM Tuesday July 2, 2002 at his residence of natural causes.

Funeral Services will be will be 11:00 AM Saturday July 6, 2002 at Folkers Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk with the Rev. Connie Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Minonk TWP Cemetery, Minonk with military rites by the Minonk VFW. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the memorial home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association, American Cancer Society or United Methodist Church, Minonk.

Mr. Land was born December 28, 1923 in Long Point, IL the son of Hiram Roscoe and Delcie Dale Greggory Land. He married Anne Jankousky on April 1, 1945 in Eureka, IL. She survives. Surviving is one son Tim (Penny) Land of Minonk, one daughter Marianne (Larry) Oglesby of Normal and one daughter-in-law Betty Land of Minonk. Also surviving are four grandchildren Rebecca (Mark) Messamore of Minonk, Eric (Stacy) Land of Finksburg, Maryland, and Delci Oglesby and McLean Oglesby both of Normal, IL, and three great grandchildren Jacob, Kayla and Sabrina Messamore.

Mr. Land was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and a son, David.

Mr. Land was a member of the United Methodist Church, Minonk and the Minonk VFW. He was a graduate of the Dana High School. Mr. Land was an Army veteran of WW II serving in the 29th Engineers in the Philippine Islands operating heavy equipment.
