Lester H. Kleen - June 20, 2001

Lester H. Kleen 72 of 1756 State Rt. 251, Minonk died at 1:34 PM June 20, 2001 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday June 23, 2001 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Minonk with the Rev. Craig Swenson officiating. Burial will be in Minonk TWP Cemetery where military rites will be accorded. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Folkers Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk and for one hour before the service at the church.

Memorials may be made in Lester Kleen's name to Mayo Clinic C/O Alpha Community Bank 137 w. 5th St. Minonk, IL 61760.

Mr. Kleen was born September 28, 1928 in Rural Minonk the son of Garmer H. and Emma Ioerger Kleen. He married Treva Joan Finck on July 22, 1954 in Minonk. She survives. Also surviving are four daughters April (Rick) Reysen of Eureka, JoAnn (Dave) Farrell of El Paso, Penny Kleen of Quincy and Dawn Kleen of Champaign, three sons Dale (Patty) Kleen of El Paso, Steven Kleen of Chicago and Robin (Amy) Kleen of Minonk, two brothers Garmer "Baldy" (Alda) Kleen of Minonk and Melvin (Audrey) Kleen of Eureka, one sister Ann (Bill) Herman of Minonk, three grandchildren Kristina Farrell of Bloomington, Sierra Kleen of Minonk and Cameron Kleen of El Paso.

Mr. Kleen was preceded in death by three sisters Helen Bachman, Pearl Higgins and Hilda Miller and one brother George Kleen.

Mr. Kleen was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran church and the Minonk American Legion.

Mr. Kleen was a farmer all his life, served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was an avid U of I basketball fan. Lester enjoyed the Halloween party they hosted annually for family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
