Edward Ingerski - April 6, 2001

EL PASO -- Edward B. Ingerski, 89, of 107 W. 3rd St., El Paso, died at 5:04 p.m. Friday (April 6, 2001) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

His funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, El Paso, the Rev. Lawrence P. Morrissey officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at Froelich Memorial Home, El Paso, with a rosary recited at 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church, El Paso, or the El Paso Rescue Squad.

Mr. Ingerski was born May 25, 1911, in Minonk, the son of Stanley and Stella Greskoviak Ingerski. He married Lorene M. Stokes on Jan. 24, 1944, in El Paso. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Kay (Dennis) Kempner, East Amherst, N.Y.; two brothers, Walter Ingerski, Champaign; and Jerry Ingerski, Falls Church, Va.

Also surviving are two grandchildren, Darren Kempner and Kelly Kempner, both of Amherst, N.Y.; a nephew; and two nieces.

His parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Ingerski graduated from Minonk High School where he participated in track and basketball. He attended Eureka College. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, El Paso, and The Holy Names Society of St. Mary's Church. As an avid card player, he and his wife started the card club at St. Mary's Church, which continues today.

He served on the El Paso City Council for 34 years from 1957 to 1991. He was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Company in East Peoria as a factory accountant for forty years, retiring in 1976. He refereed boys' high school basketball for over forty years throughout central Illinois. As an avid democrat, he served as Woodford County Democratic Committeeman for many years.
