John Gaspardo - November 17, 2001

DANA -- John Michael Gaspardo, 62, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., formerly of rural Dana, died Nov. 17, 2001, at his home. He had been a 25-year resident of Sierra Vista.

His funeral was Nov. 21 at Main Post Chapel at Fort Huachuca, with full military honors at the Post Cemetery. Jensen Sierra Vista Mortuary, Sierra Vista, was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 15 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Minonk. Father Don Henderson will officiate.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Minonk.

Mr. Gaspardo was born Nov. 26, 1938, in rural Dana, a son of John Bruno and Margaret Sullivan Gaspardo.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Brigitte Gaspardo; a son, Michael (Sharon) Gaspardo, Hereford, Ariz.; three brothers, Don (Carolyn) Gaspardo, Minonk; and Thomas Gaspardo and Robert Prince Jr. of rural Dana; a sister, Kay (Howard) Knack, Minonk; a sister-in-law, Agnes Gaspardo, Minonk; and three grandchildren.

His parents and a brother, Jim Gaspardo, preceded him in death.

John served his country in the U.S. Army, joining in 1958 and serving two tours in Vietnam and Germany. He retired Oct. 31, 1978, as a major from Fort Huachuca, Ariz.

John then worked for the Civil Service from May 1979 to April 1993. He was a life member of the Lions Club; a Sir Knight with the Knights of Columbus; a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; a member of American Legion Post in Minonk; and a member of Holy Family Parish of Fort Huachuca.
