John Bane - May 9, 2001

John Bane 92, a resident of the Beulah Land Christian Home, Flanagan for the past seven years, passed away 9: 50 P.M. Wednesday May 09, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday May 12, 2001 at the Dana Methodist Church with the Rev. Connie Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Dana Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Froelich Memorial Home in Minonk and one hour before his services at the Dana Methodist Church. Memorials May be directed to Dana Methodist Church, Dana Fire Department, Beulah Land Christian Home or the charity of the donor's choice

Mr. Bane was born on August 13, 1908 in Dana the Son of George Henry and Lulu Pritchett Bane. He Married Loretta Obermiller on March 08, 1930 in Pontiac. She passed away on November 28, 1975.

He is survived by two sons Dan (Sally Simmons) Bane and Bill (Emily Reineking) Bane both of Dana, one daughter Bernice Peters of El Paso, ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one daughter in law Eileen Barnard Bane, one Son John V. Bane Sr, three brothers Joe, James and one infantbrother, one sister Lela Baker and one son in law Ron Peters preceded him in death

He was a member of the Dana United Methodist Church, a Past School Board Member and Dana Cemetery Board Member. He loved to work with his hands. As life long farmer he was the first to plant Soy Beans in the Dana area. He owned and operated Bane Brothers Case and Oliver Implement Dealer in Dana from 1927 to 1947 with his brother Joe. John and his brother Joe had patented a double cut sickle bar for cutting soy beans.
