Victoria Elizabeth Finfrock, 78, of Mt. Morris, IL, passed away on June 21, 2023 in Allure of Pinecrest, Mt. Morris, surrounded by family. Vicki was born March 6, 1945 in Bloomington, IL, to the late John and Benita (Clifford) Schneider. She graduated from Minonk-Dana-Rutland High School (class of 1963), Western Illinois University, and received a Master of Education from National-Lewis University.

Vicki is survived by her son, Jason, of Mahomet, IL, daughter, Amy MacLeod, Irmo, SC; four granddaughters: Ella, Sophie, and Sasha MacLeod, and Ayla Finfrock; three siblings: Terry (Sue) Schneider of Warrensburg, IL, Shelley (Gary) Gilfillan of Towanda, IL, and Jeff (Brenda) Schneider of Armington, IL.

A resident of Mt. Morris for nearly fifty-four years and a lifelong educator of over thirty years, she touched countless lives. She primarily taught home economics and English in junior high and high school in Leaf River, Mt. Morris, and Oregon. Each student was always a priority for her and as a passionate GED instructor with Highland Community College, she expressed unbridled joy whenever a student she helped earned his or her GED certificate. Always eager to teach, a favorite summer activity of hers was leading students throughout Europe, Australia, and New Zealand with People to People Student Ambassadors and after retirement she continued to tutor underserved local kids.

Vicki was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oregon, Philanthropic Education Organization (Chapter CU), Performing Arts Guild, Ogle-Lee Retired Teachers Group, Mt. Morris Community Library Foundation, and was active in two local food banks. Always curious and forever inquiring, she loved to cook, travel, and garden, and was an absolutely voracious reader. Selfless to a fault, she was always reluctant to speak about herself and would much prefer to listen to others. As her students, children, and others remember, she always expected order and discipline. Some may have misinterpreted her expectations as being demanding. She simply wanted anyone in her charge to find the inner excellence that she knew he or she possessed.

A visitation will be held in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL on July 11, 2023, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A service will be held at 11:00 AM on July 12, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, at 11:00 A.M. in Oregon, IL with a meal following the service at the church. Interment will be held at a later date.

The family would like to express gratitude for the exceptional care Vicki received as a resident of Pinecrest, with a special thank you to the staff in the Terrace Memory Unit as well as Serenity Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a religious or charitable organization of your choice.
