Harriet Elinor Arndt, 95, of Rutland, passed away at 3:30 p.m., Monday, August 30, 2021 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
She was born May 15, 1926 in Roanoke, IL to Edward Sr, and Victorine (Hennebelle) Thommen. She married William J. "Bill" Arndt of June 8, 1936 in LaSalle, IL. He died on August 1, 2015.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Billy Jean; two daughters, Veronica and Sandra; daughter-in-law, Deb Rippel, and two brothers, Edward, Jr. and Clyde.
Surviving are her children Yvonne (Sam) Rich of Rutland, IL; Jacqueline (Rippel) Hillenburg of Sun City West, AZ; Richard (Rosemary) Rippel of Toluca, IL; Renee (Rippel) Holden of Glendale, AZ; Reynold Rippel of Minonk; one brother, Roy (Annalee) Thommen of Germantown Hills, IL; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
Harriet was a homemaker, a baker, a seamstress, a gardener, a musician, an amazing chef, among her many attributes. She was a dear friend to all and always had her dogs by her side. Her family was her pride and joy. She always had a smile for everyone.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wenona, IL where a Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021. Franciscan Friars will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Reilly Cemetery in Wenona, IL.
