Solar Eclipse Passes Through Minonk

Monday, August 21, 2017 - Posted 4:32:38 PM
A once in a lifetime solar eclipse occurred in Minonk Monday afternoon around 1:22 pm.  The eclipse was about 95% in coverage but it wasn't enough to darken the area very much. The top part of the eclipse still showed a sliver of sunlight. Some people were taking pictures of the eclipse by pointing their cell phone to the sun over their shoulder with the camera reversed for a selfie.  Most people used the special sun glasses to observe the eclipse.

Below is a photo of Johnson Street in Minonk 5 minutes after the maximum eclipse which shows that the eclipse didn't darken the day very much.
