Band Choir - Best Ever

I think that progam at the high school was the best that I ever been to, the jazz band was best I have ever heard. The kids should be very proud .

Need Help in Identifiying Picture

I have no clue who these people are or even where this picture was taken. Genealogy: I'm working on Tjarks, Folkers/Folkerts, Gerdes, Peters, Brucker, Iggena, Reich, Hasbargen and Stahl. Click here to view the picture.

Hope someone can help me. I sent a picture before to Minonk Talk and got results first day.

I love the website.

Thanks, Diana Folkers Tidball

FHS Supports Toys for Tots

Each year, across the nation, members of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve gather new, unwrapped toys for needy children throughout the area. These toys are distributed throughout area social service agencies, including the Salvation Army. The primary goal of this program is to give the message of hope to the needy children that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.

Citizens Against Substance Abuse also known as CASA of Woodford County sponsored a donation box within each school. Fieldcrest High School Student Council discovered the idea of Penny Wars. FHS raised and donated $750 to Toys for Tots. The CASA Coalition was very pleased with the outcome.

Overall, CASA collected six full boxes of toys from Metamora, Eureka, Washburn, El Paso- Gridley, Roanoke, and Fieldcrest with the $750 check to present to the Toys for Tots program. Toys for Tots and CASA appreciated all of the donations.

High School Christmas Program

Just wanted to say the High School Christmas Program last night was AMAZING!! 2 thumbs up to Mr. Russel for putting on an awesome program! The choir and band just blew us away with their ability to perform such difficult music. When the choir and band performed together it brought tears to my eyes. They were that good! Keep up the great work kids!! You deserve all the recognition you can get! If you missed it, you missed out on an amazing experience.

Thanks to our City Guys

Again, I'm thanking our city guys for doing such a great job. Snow removal and just anything needed has been done by these fellows. They work long hours into the night to make sure we have clear streets by morning.

Thanks again guys and Merry Christmas-

A Christmas Present Thank You Santa!

Dave
I had sent a question about requiring information on the book Tales From The Trees the history of Minonk. I became interested in this story many years ago. I have read it 2x
getting the book from the library.
Yesterday a package came in the mail. It was a copy of the book! I want to take this moment and thank my "Santa Clause" for sending me this surprise.
To Mr. Spencer: your gift was very generous and the letter expressing your admiration for my father was even more precious. My dad was a great man. When folks bring up his name it makes me proud and moved that he is not forgotten. Our Christmases have decreased in size over the past years. Our routine was to attend church the next morning open presents , enjoy the family time and dinner. This has since changed in the past few years.
This wonderful gesture you did proves the spirit of Christmas. Your act of kindness truly affected me. I am a person who believes good deeds should be paid forward. I will do that.
May you have the return of your generousity come back to you my friend 3 fold. Thank you my Santa Clause.

I wish you and your family a wonderful and Merry Christmas. God Bless you and yours.

Thank you

Rebecca Quick

Picture identified

Hi Diana. The people in the picture are the Herman and Margaret Lehman family. Their farm was southeast of Minonk. Their children were John, Ben,Henry, Fred, Theodore, Herman, Tillie, Hanna, Louise and half sister Lena. Tillie was my grandmother and she married Louis Oncken. Their children were Irma Timmerman, Bev Robertson, and my father Richard Oncken all of whom still live in Minonk. Let me know if this helps. If you would like you can email me at: donnadick58@yahoo.com.

Donations of Children's Coats

I will be accepting donations of gently used children's winter coats at the Stop and Shop, before and during the parade of Lights on Saturday, December 4th. These coats will be donated to the food pantry and distributed on an as needed basis. This is for winter coats only. All coats should be clean and in good working condition (no broken zippers ).

Thank you,
