MINONK WAS ONCE the scene of many street fairs and festivals. And, of course, the ferris wheel was one of the main attractions. This photograph taken by M. H. Pfaffle in 1903 shows an interesting and frail looking wheel situated on the old “bank corner,” looking to the east at 5th and Chestnut Streets. Across the street is the Horneman Elevator with the office and scale house in the small building shown between the two large ones. Those buildings no longer exist.
