West entrance to high school to be closed for church demolition

Wednesday, October 23, 2019 - Posted 9:27:50 AM by Dr. Kari Rockwell

Beginning on Monday, October 28, 2019, demolition of the church building on the high school property will begin. Due to the movement of semi-trucks and demolition equipment, the west entrance to the high school from Maple Street will be closed. The current timeframe for closure is estimated to be 3 weeks. During this time, the high school will be implementing alternative student drop-off and pick up procedures. Fieldcrest Administration will notify all families when the regular routine will resume. The following expectations will be in effect:

1. The west entrance from Maple will be closed.

2. All district shuttle bus students traveling to Toluca and Wenona will now meet at Fieldcrest Primary school in the morning (departure at 7:40am) and will be dropped off at that location by busses in the afternoon (3:25pm). The change in morning departure location and time will provide supervision and shelter at the Primary School and will allow shuttle students more time to eat breakfast at school if they choose.

3. High school student parental drop-offs and pickups should only be made on Maple Street near the FHS marque.

4. The bus loading and unloading zone for high school students will remain in the high school parking lot before (8:00am) and after school (3:05pm).

5. High school students with parking permits should use the east entrance to the high school parking lot. This entrance will remain open and should be used during school hours.

6. The BACC bus will be unaffected.

We appreciate your attention to this change of drop-off and pick up procedures while the demolition of the church is completed. The demolition company has been requested not to move semis and equipment during pickup and drop-off times. However, please take extra precautions while driving in and around the high school campus to ensure all pedestrians and other drivers remain safe, especially as everyone transitions to the new procedures. If you notice any issues during this time that needs our attention, please do not hesitate to contact the high school or district office.

Respectfully,
Dr. Daniel L. Oakley
