Fieldcrest Board Meeting Summary

Friday, August 28, 2020 - Posted 10:31:49 AM by Dr. Kari Rockwell

The Fieldcrest Board of Education met Wednesday evening at the Toluca Intermediate School. Below is a summary of the meeting prepared by Superintendent Dr. Kari Rockwell.

The proposed budget was approved for public review and to be published in the newspaper. The final budget will be reviewed and approved on 9/30/2020.

The board and the administration feel confident in our plan for in-person learning and the ability for our staff to address all needs, instruction, cleaning/sanitation, and transportation. All areas of the districts are evaluated for health and safety as the #1 priority. This plan of action is under constant review and will be revised as needed.

I have built and posted a COVID statistics dashboard on the front page of www.unit6.org. This will be updated approximately every 48 hours.

The school calendar has been revised for Presidents' Day weekend per ISBE calendar rules.

Due to August 10th storm damage, the roof over the Wenona small gym will be replaced and the work covered by insurance.

Chris Green from Tri Global Energy joined us to explain the Panther Grove Wind Energy Project. There is an information sheet in the public folder that explains the benefits to not only Fieldcrest but also to our local community.

There are 145 Remote Learners across the district as of 8/26/2020. A student/parent can make the decision to move to remote at any time, but cannot move back to in-person until the new grading period begins.

ALL students/families must complete the COVID Health Screening each day- this is state required.

We are working with families to ensure this COVID screening is completed prior to boarding the bus and/or arriving to school depending on the child's mode of transportation. If a parent consistently refuses to complete this screening, Remote Learning is the only option.

COVID Testing/Quarantine

1. The information used to send a child home or enforce quarantine is in conjunction with the Health Department. Rumors will not be used to make decisions.

2. Fieldcrest CUSD#6 will NEVER disclose personal/medical information to another parent or family.

Many, many thanks to our amazing students and staff!

Masks- so proud of students! Thank you to our parents and staff for modeling and encouraging.

Remote Orientations went well! Chromebooks picked up.

Remote coordinators are excited about their work with families and eager to see it through as a positive experience.

Kudos to our staff for the exceptional work in every corner of our district!

Instructional Staff: Serving students through In-person and remote which is a large and time consuming workload.

Custodial: Regular cleaning and additional sanitizing-- much appreciated!

Transportation: Working very hard to keep all buses on the road- amazing teamwork!

The high level of dedication shown by our staff is very appreciated by our school board and administration!

In personnel matters Blaine Stalter was hired as FIS Assistant Cook replacing Jill Metz who resigned.

There will be a brief meeting on Wednesday, 9/2 @ 6:30pm (FHS Music Room) to discuss the school days hours (currently 8:00am-1:00pm) beginning 9/14. It was previously advertised that the district would review and announce on 9/4.

The board will hold a retreat on 9/22 from 6-8 pm in the FHS Music Room.

The next regular meeting will be held in Toluca (Music Room) on 9/30 at 6:30pm.

The regular monthly meeting schedule has been revised for locations.
