94th Annual Ioerger Reunion Held August 11

The 94th annual Ioerger reunion was held Sunday, August 11, 2019 at the Roanoke Park Building in Roanoke, IL. Over 71 family members and guests gathered to enjoy a potluck dinner and fellowship. Fresh cut flowers donated by Ioerger Family Farms of Minonk, IL, adorned the tables. Before the meal, Stanley Rush of Metamora, IL, led those gathered in prayer.

Ioerger relatives and guests traveled from Charleston, South Carolina and many Illinois communities including, Bartonville, Bay View Gardens, Chillicothe, Creve Coeur, Dunlap, East Peoria, El Paso, Germantown Hills, Kickapoo, Metamora, Minonk, Normal, North Aurora, Peoria, Spring Bay and Washington to attend.

The eldest relatives in attendance were Larry Bearss and his wife Lois Bearss, both 82 years old, of Minonk, IL. The youngest in attendance were 13 month old Knox Rubel, son of Drew and Brandy Rubel, Metamora, IL and 7 1/2 month old Rylan Ioerger, daughter of Regan and Lee Ioerger III, of Metamora, IL. Traveling the farthest to attend the reunion this year was Joseph Ioerger of Charleston, South Carolina.

Those elected to host the 95th reunion are Erik Ioerger of Metamora, IL, President, Daryl Ioerger, Normal, IL, Vice President, and Karen Ioerger Oljace, Secretary-Treasurer, of Washington, IL. 

For 94 consecutive years, the Ioerger family has held its annual gatherings in Woodford County. The first Ioerger to settle in the area was Michael Ioerger who settled in a northwest section of Woodford County in 1839, which was part of Tazewell County at that time. The reunion has been held at the Roanoke Park Building since 1973 and will be held there again next year on August 9, 2020.
