Sunday, July 12, 2020 - Posted 3:58:10 PM by Greg Peterson

Hey, Fieldcrest Middle School baseball and softball players!! Our 2020 seasons are quickly approaching. The coaches have announced their starting dates and times for the 2020 seasons. Please notice that baseball and softball registrations are now open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys AND girls!

Coaches Liz Kay and Laura Lorton will hold their first softball practice on Monday, July 27th from 3:30-5:00 at the Wenona City Park diamond. The coaches will conduct their mandatory parents' meeting in the park pavilion at 5:00. In case of bad weather, the team will meet at the middle school that day. Any 6th, 7th or 8th grade girl interested in participating should plan to attend. Practices will typically be held daily from 9:30-11:00 am. Their season and home opener is tentatively slated for August 8th.

All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys are invited to attend the daily baseball practices that will begin on Monday, August 3rd at the school diamond from 3:00-5:15. Coaches Mark Brown and Mike McKay will begin preparations for a tentative August 12th season debut. A mandatory parents' meeting will be held at the field on Wednesday, August 5th at 5:30. Players will need to have their glove, a hat, and need to wear long or baseball pants for their practices.

We all know that COVID-19 has changed our daily lives. School athletics will also have a somewhat different look. In order to meet the guidelines, set forth, we are asking our athletes to follow team precautions. Coaches will monitor each athlete on a daily basis. Each athlete needs to bring their own drinks, provide their own glove and, if possible, their own helmet and bat. Equipment will be available but sharing that equipment will be limited.

ALL baseball and softball players are reminded that they are required to have current sports physicals turned in before they can practice! Registration on the 8to18 website also needs to be completed prior to practicing. Instructions for this process are available on the school website at Click on Fieldcrest Middle School, then the MS Athletics tab. Next, click on Middle School Athletics Webpage to access the 8to18 site. Directions are in the Announcements at the left of the page. Any questions you can contact Greg Peterson, athletic director, at
