Obituary: Francis C. O'Kraski, 88 - March 13, 2019
Francis C. "Frank" O'Kraski, 88, of Minonk, formerly of Streator, passed away Wednesday (March 13, 2019) at Flanagan Rehabilitation and Health Center, Flanagan.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator, with the Rev Father Ryan Mattingly officiating. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Streator. Full military honors will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Third-degree members of the Knights of Columbus Council 790 will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Born Sept. 2, 1930, in Streator, he was the son of Leo and Victoria Zion O'Kraski.

He is survived by brothers, Jerry (Darlene Whalen) O'Kraski, Streator, and Stan (Darlene) O'Kraski, Pekin. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his lifelong partner, Sally Marshall; one brother, Eugene O'Kraski; a half sister, Virginia Lewis; and half brothers, Leo and John O'Kraski.

He attended Greeley grade schools and Streator High School. He joined in the U.S. Navy while in high school and later joined the Marine Corps, serving in Korea as a sergeant. Following the war he rejoined the U.S. Navy and served as a corpsman.

He had been employed at Owens-Illinois Glass Co. for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

He was a third-degree member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council 790. He was an avid fisherman and golfer and helped with the disabled and above all was a true Marine, Semper Fi (always faithful).
