Obituary: Michael Stuart Grose, 77 - December 25, 2016
SULLIVAN - Michael Stuart Grose, 77, of Sullivan passed away at 1:25 p.m. Sunday (December 25, 2016) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Celebration of Life services will be Noon Friday in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan with Pastor Charliam Renner officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan with military rites conducted by the Sullivan American Legion Post# 68. Memorials are suggested to the Sullivan First United Methodist Church Honduras Mission Team or to the Sullivan American Legion Post # 68. Mike was born February 16, 1939 in Peoria the son of Virgil and Mary Reid Grose. He had taught English at El Paso High School and then taught English and Illinois History at Sullivan High School until retirement in 1992. He was also the assistant football coach at both schools. He later worked at HydroGear in Sullivan until 2007. He was a member of the Sullivan First United Methodist Church, and sang in the church choir, he was a member of the Sullivan American Legion Post #68 and was in charge of the Color Guard, a member of the Prairie Winds, Illinois Retired Teachers Association and the Kiwanis Key Club on El Paso. Mike was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corp. He married Linda Jane Brindley on June 17, 1960 in East St. Louis, Illinois.  He was a 1957 graduate of Minonk-Dana-Rutland High School.

Surviving are his wife Linda of Sullivan; sons Jeff Grose and Steve Grose both of Sullivan; daughter Susan (David) Landess of Bloomington; grandchildren Chantel and Chaleigh Grose of Gulfport, Mississippi, Madigan Landess, Gavin Landess, Ellory Landess and Dax Landess all of Bloomington and great grandchildren Landon Bennett and Abigail Grose of Gulfport, Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
