Obituary: Richard G. Burmood, 72 - November 16, 2019
BENSON - Richard G. "Dick" Burmood, 72, of Benson, passed away at 10:17 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 16, 2019) at Carlinville Hospital, Carlinville.

His funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Benson. Pastor Dick Hanson will be officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Township Cemetery, Benson.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Benson, and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Benson American Legion. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax, is in charge of arrangements.

Dick was born April 19, 1947, in Washington, the son of Bert and Marie Watson Burmood. He married Jeanie Oltman on June 17, 1967, in Benson. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Richard B. Burmood, Benson; Bradley (Jan) Burmood, Morton; Kristie Burmood, John (Amy) Burmood, Jamie (Christopher) Nix, Susan (Lee) Kephart and Robert (Karen) Burmood, all of Benson; 26 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Peg (Dick) Maddox, Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dick started Burmood Quality Homes, Benson, in 1978. Together with his wife and their children they built quality homes throughout Central Illinois for more than 40 years.

He was a member and past council member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Benson. He was a volunteer fireman for Benson Fire and Ambulance, lifetime member of the NRA and Building Board of Appeals for McLean County. Dick was an avid sportsman and a Master Gardener.
