Impeachment Hearings

The Illinois House "Special Investigative Committee"  has begun its hearings on the possible impeachment of Governor Blagojevich.  When the hearings resume Monday, you can listen and watch by going to WGNTV.com.

Governor's Lawyer

Blago's attorney wants the state to pay his fees, because the $3 to 4 Million in the Gov's campaign account has been frozen by the feds.  No wonder the attorney told someone on his cell phone that he was "stuck at this stupid hearing" - forgetting his microphone was on!

Sailor Language

Several years ago Gov. Blagojevich claimed that the legislature spent money like drunken sailors.  Now we know from the federal wiretaps that he and his wife use foul language befitting the crustiest of sailors. (No offense to our Navy friends)  I've personally heard the Gov use similar colorful words in describing legislators!

Elvis Lives

You may know that Blagojevish is a big Elvis Presley fan.  Maybe that's where the hairdo comes from.  It's said that the Gov likes to sing Elvis songs, too.  Which one do you think he should be singing now?!?!

Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn

Though our philosophy of government is quite different, Pat Quinn is a decent and honest guy.  I've known him for over 30 years and feel I can work well with him should he become Governor.

Ice Storm/Highway Plowing

Our IDOT workers do a good job maintaining our highways in stormy weather like today's, but I am concerned about the IDOT memo issued weeks ago that said many rural state roads would be plowed less often than in the past.  Let me know if your local highway needs more attention so that I can pass the word on to IDOT.  Your safety comes first!

Wreathes Across America

Those of us who laid wreathes at the Veterans Memorial in Glendale Cemetery in Washington last Saturday shivered a bit on that hilltop in a strong cold wind, but we knew and acknowledged that our few moments of discomfort paled in comparison to the horrible weather conditions many of our veterans have fought in.  Thanks to our veterans who are indeed "Americas Greatest Heroes!"  And, thanks Mayor Manier and Carol Moss for inviting me to speak!

Danvers Elementary/Fieldcrest High

I spoke last week to the fifth graders in Judy Rocke's and Cindy Wurmnest's classes in Danvers, as well as, to students in Nancy Turner and Dan Wieczorek classes in Minonk.  I left feeling good about the fine education provided in these communities to our young people.

School Administrators/University Annuitants

Education was again the topic as I met school principals and superintendents of the Corn Belt division in Fairbury.  And ISU retires kept Rep. Dan Brady, Sen. Bill Brady and I on our toes discussing issues important to them.  My thanks to Brad Hutchison and Parker Lawless for organizing those meetings.

Congrats, Ray!

Congratulations to Congressman Ray LaHood on his nomination to be U.S. Secretary of Transportation in the Obama administration!

Merry Christmas

May God's blessings be with you and your family this Christmas!
