Concerns expressed to school board on fate of Presbyterian Church

Minonk resident Dave Uphoff attended the Fieldcrest Board of Education meeting to address his concerns about the future of the Presbyterian Church which is owned by the school district. Uphoff noted that the City of Minonk does not want to participate with the school district to upgrade the church building so it will be up to the school district to decide what to do with the building. Uphoff said the general consensus of the community is that the building is one of the most beautiful buildings in Minonk and should be preserved. He urged the school board members to formulate a plan that will save the church. He mentioned that it could be used as a community center for receptions or sold to a private individual for use as a home. Uphoff mentioned that the church is currently being used as a storage facility and deserves better use than that.
