Listed below are the city regulations on snowmobiles within the city limits of Minonk as provided by Police Chief Nick Cavera. This article is being corrected to indicate that snowmobile registration and fee is no longer required.
10.24.030 Operation within the city.
A. Snowmobiles shall be allowed to operate only on the following designated streets and alleys:
1. First Street from Route 51 to Chestnut Street;
2. Eighth Street from Route 51 to Mary Street;
3. Mary Street between Fourth Street and Eighth Street;
4. Fourth Street east of Mary Street;
5. Alley between Chestnut Street and Walnut Street from First Street to Seventh Street;
6. Seventh Street from the alley between Chestnut Street and Walnut Street to Walnut Street;
7. Walnut Street from Seventh Street to Eighth Street.
1. In addition, a registered snowmobile may be operated within the city from the owner's residence to the above designated snowmobile route on city streets so long as the shortest distance between the residence and the snowmobile route is followed.
2. Snowmobiles shall be operated on the roadway in the same direction as motor vehicle traffic as near as possible to the right side of the roadway and at a speed not to exceed twenty miles per hour.
3. Snowmobiles shall travel within the city in single file.
4. Snowmobiles shall not be operated upon private property.
5. Snowmobiles shall not be operated when the city snow removal crews are plowing the streets due to visibility problems caused by the plowed snow.
6. The above snowmobile route is available only for entering and leaving the city and shall not be used for any other function. (Ord. 2004-05;.0rd. 734 §3,1980).
10.24.040 Violations and penalties.
Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not less than twenty-five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars for the first offense. Any subsequent violation shall result in a fine of not less than twenty-five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars and revocation of the city snowmobile permit. (Ord. 2004-05; Ord. 734 §4,1980).

DRIVERS BETWEEN 10 thru 12 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PERSON OVER 18
DRIVERS AT LEAST 12 AND LESS THAN 16 ACCOMPANIED BY A PERSON 16 OR OVER
CAN NOT BE OPERATED WITHIN 100 FEET OF A DWELLING BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND 6:00 A.M. FASTER THAN MINIMUM SPEED TO MAINTAIN FORWARD MOVEMENT OF THE SNOWMOBILE
CAN NOT BE OPERATED UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS.
