Fieldcrest Board Meeting Summary

The Fieldcrest CUSD 6 Board of Education held its regular Board meeting on October 25, 2017. Members present were Mykin Bernardi, Scott Hillenburg, Kimberly McKay, Tim McNamara and Beth Palm. Also present were Superintendent Dr. Daniel L. Oakley, Intermediate School Principal Molly Allen, grades 3-8 enrichment teacher Heather Torgler and some of her students, and a couple of community members.

Mrs. Allen introduced Mrs. Torgler and her students as they presented their enrichment activities to the Board.

In Board action during regular session, the Board: approved the annual audit; approved the purchase of a new van from Uftring Automall, following the cessation of the previous agreement to do the same; adopted the July 2017 PRESS Policy Update; approved a Board Building Committee of the Whole meeting calendar; approved the purchase of the VeriTime time clock system; and adopted a resolution to support the placement of the County Facilities Sales Tax on the ballot in Woodford County in March 2018. An agenda item regarding the sending of a reorganization exploration letter to adjoining districts died for lack of a motion.

In personnel action, the Board: assigned RaeAnne Switzer as middle school assistant track coach; and recognized Ken Baker for his years of service as middle school assistant track coach.

Dr. Oakley addressed the following:

1. The state has finally caught up with all payments from the 2016-2017 school year. It remains to be seen whether the state will meet all of its obligations for the 2017-2018 school year.

2. John Bishop and David Leggans, architects with Farnsworth, brought additional information as requested to help explain the 10-year health life safety surveys. The Board and architects discussed a variety of questions during the discussion.

The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 6:30 pm at Fieldcrest High School band room, with closed session starting at 6:00 pm. The Board Building Committee of the Whole will also meet November 8 at 6:00 pm, starting at the High School Band Room and moving throughout the district's buildings
