- Posted 8:14:09 PM by Sheila Healy
During teen safe driving week Fieldcrest High School Project Ignition team was honored by having Miss Illinois Hannah Smith be our guest speaker. Through a partnership started in April, 2011, State Farm and the reigning Ms. Illinois are promoting safe driving habits among teens, assisting them with their decision making behind the wheel, and warning against distracted driving.
Throughout her reign, Ms. Illinois will travel the state, working collaboratively with State Farm, speaking to high school students on the importance of safe teen driving. Miss Illinois 2011, Hannah Smith, is originally from Huntley, IL and is a graduate of McHenry County College. After her current reign she will attend Northern Illinois University in DeKalb to pursue Bachelor's degrees in both Dance Performance and Business. Once she completes her education, Hannah aspires to own her own dance studio and utilize her studio as a platform through which she can encourage young women to live healthy and active lifestyles. At the 2011 Miss Illinois Pageant this past summer, Hannah earned the preliminary awards for Lifestyle & Fitness in Swimsuit, Talent and Evening Gown competitions. She will compete with 52 other titleholders from across the country for the title of Miss America at the 2012 Pageant next January at Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
