Approaching the year anniversary of October 26,2011 the date the early morning fire in Minonk destroyed a hefty section of the downtown area . Even with 20 million gallons of water the buildings were damaged beyond repair. We are still grateful to all who worked to save the buildings and those who helped salvage what was left of all the business's in the downtown area, the Fire fighters from Minonk and many of the surrounding communities, volunteers, high school students, and the out pouring of support from the community . The rich history of the buildings that have stood steadfast through out the years, the dentist office was once the home to a cobbler shop, beauty parlor, and post office. Dr. Naik watched through smoke filled eyes as his business of 34 years was destroyed.
The last year has been full of challenges and changes. The resilience of the business owners to not only re-locate while continuing to provide the level of services that our patient and customers have grown to expect in it self was remarkable. We are looking forward to establishing our business back in Minonk ,a vow Dr. Naik made on that fateful day a year ago, we are currently in negotiations on a location that once renovated will provide home for the state of the art Dental office deserved by such a gracious community.
2013 will bring the addition of 2 new dentist's to the Minonk and Toluca offices practicing along side of Dr. Naik . The new dentist's Dr. Patrick Hamper and Dr. Stephanie Hamper will be providing specialized services to our patients, Dr Patrick specializing in Implant Dentistry along with general Denistry, Dr. Stephanie enjoys working in Pediatric Dentistry.
With the additional staff we will have a Dentist on call 24 hours 7 days a week. Dr. Stephanie comes from Mt. Zion a small farm community outside of Decatur, Dr Patrick is from Aurora, they both understand the values of small town Midwest living. They are planning in taking up residence in Minonk, and becoming active members of the community and possibly entering the local political arena. They look forward to starting their family, and raising their children close to family and friends which makes Minonk an ideal location.
It will be another busy winter as work on the Minonk facility will begin soon, and in Dr. Naik's mind that is long overdue. We hope to be able soon to release the location and opening date for the new facility in Minonk.
