In 2010, the Illinois Legislature passed Public Act 97-0287, the Electronic Product Recycling and Re-use Act.  One provision of this Act, that came into effect on January 1, 2012, is that it is now illegal for landfills to accept certain electronic items for disposal.  As such, it is no longer legal for any waste hauler to pick up these electronic items.

I have contacted Advanced Technology Recycling out of Pontiac Illinois and have discovered that they will accept televisions and other video monitors for drop off at their location on 601 East Prairie St., Pontiac Illinois.  I would advise residents that have these type of items to personally dispose of these products in a legal manner by dropping them off at the ATR facility in Pontiac.  ATR may be contacted at 815-844-7779 with any questions regarding hours or other issues.
