"Cool Stuff" Auction and Soup Supper Nov. 4

St. John's Wenona and Minonk United Methodist Churches are hosting a "Cool Stuff" Auction and Soup Supper on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at St. John's Methodist Church, 202 N. Walnut St., Wenona. The Soup and Sandwich Supper will be served from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., and a donation will be accepted for the meal. All proceeds from both the meal and the auction will go to the mission project of building an Education and Recreation Center at Cunningham Children's Home in Urbana.
The auction will begin at 7:15 p.m. A variety of unique items and services will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Auction items will be on display during the supper hours.
Cunningham Children's Home has been a mission of the United Methodist Women for 122 years. The needs of the traumatized children on the campus have outgrown the current facility. The new Education and Recreation Center is under construction following the groundbreaking ceremony on August 20. It is scheduled to be open for the 2018-2019 school year. It will provide facilities for both education and recreation under one roof, eliminating the need for students to change buildings for different classes throughout the day, which results in loss of instruction time for the special education students.
The November 4 auction and supper will provide an opportunity to enjoy fellowship and become familiar with the mission opportunities at Cunningham. Mark your calendars today!
