Minonk Christmas Tree being built - donations needed

Friday, September 23, 2016 - Posted 4:30:15 PM
This picture shows the progress being made on construction of the Minonk Christmas tree being built by Ed Shirley for display during the holiday season at the corner lot of West Fifth and Chestnut streets.

The tree shown in the picture is 16 feet high which is a little less than half of its completed height of 34 feet. When completed the tree will be decorated with LED lights and other ornamentation that will make a brilliant display for the holiday season.

The Minonk Business Association will be planning a ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree the week before the Christmas parade along with Carolers and announcement of those contributions "in Memory" of loved ones.

The cost of the tree is $4000 and so far only $1600 has been donated towards the purchase of the tree.

If you would like to make a donation to the Memorial Fund in Memory of a Loved One, you may drop off a check payable to the Minonk Business Association at Meyer-Jochums Insurance Agency at 119 W. Fifth Street, Fieldcrest Dental office at 430 N. Chestnut or the Minonk Community Bank at 137 W. Fifth Street.

The Christmas tree will become an annual holiday attraction in Minonk. Make your donation now so you can contribute to a Minonk tradition that will entertain generations to come.
