Operation Uplink is a program sponsor'd by the VFW and its auxiliaries, for sending donations to the National office in Kansas City, MO. Those donations are used to purchase military phone cards and are given to troops being sent out of the country, given to troops already oversea's and to our wounded warriors who are in hospitals or treatment centers to recover from their injuries.
This program is one of three under the VFW ladies National Military Services program to aide and assist our troops and veterans. Another program is MAP or Military Assistance program, it helps auxiliaries and posts to get Grant money from National VFW, to sponsor Welcome home or going away parties for soldiers who are deploying overseas or returning home from a tour of duty. The third is Unmet Needs, this program helps veterans and their families with financial and/or material needs they may have.
The Veterans and Family support program works with our veterans and their families, helping in any way that we can. This program is one of many programs the Minonk Ladies VFW 7185 are involved with, including sending a donation to Operation Uplink for the phone cards. Several posters have been put up around Minonk showing the Operation Uplink program with Judy's name and address, also directions on how your check should be made out. If you have not seen a poster, the chairman is Judy Reeser..695 E Second st, El Paso, IL 61738, your donations can be sent to her, and she will forward them to the National treasurer in Kansas City, MO. Checks should be made to .. Ladies Auxiliary VFW, with memo line as National Military Services.
The troops who have received and used these Operation Uplink phone cards, greatly appreciate them, many do not have computer access, therefore depend on phone cards or regular mail to communicate with their families.
On behalf of our military troops oversea's and our wounded warriors, we say THANK YOU !!
