Neither snow, nor rain, nor gloom of night keeps Joan Miller from retiring

On Friday morning, this past June 30th, Joan Miller sorted her last piece of mail and punched her time card for the final time, thus ending her 17-year career with the Minonk Post Office.

Donuts were served to help mark the event and a plaque from the United States Postal Service commemorating her time in service was presented by Postmaster Larry Miles.  A round of applause--and a few tears, too--reflected the occasions significance.

That evening, Joan and her husband Chuck, along with her co-workers and friends, convened at Jess's Pub for a retirement get-together.  Delicious pizza, cold refreshments, a cake, plus lots of warm conversation and reminiscences about "the good old days" rounded out the evening.

Joan came on board at the Minonk Post Office in 1989.  In addition to her regular duties at Minonk, she also loaned out, from time to time, to work at several area offices.  And for many years, she conducted window clerk training classes in Bloomington for incoming postal employees.

Joan Miller's smiling face and professional service will be missed at "the window".  She left her stamp on the Minonk office.  Her co-workers wish Joan and Chuck many happy times in her post- Post Office years.
