Scott Meierhofer of rural Minonk, who is a body repairman at Uftring Automotive, has just completed a repair job of his own with the restoration of a 1932 Model A Ford into a hot rod reminiscent of stock car racers from 60 years ago. Scott found the car on Ebay and bought it from the owner in Kentucky.
Scott spent over a year in redoing the body and framework. He painted the car with a satin finish which is different from the gloss finish of most cars. He even found a pair of 1932 license plates from a flea market in Peoria.

Scott added a unique touch with a decal of Betty Boop on the trunk. The rear lights are from a 1939 Ford.

In keeping with the style of a hot rod, the fenders were removed and the hood was stamped out with louvers owned by the late Jeff Carlson to keep the engine cooler. Scott is making baffles for the straight pipes coming from the sides of the engine to quiet the exhaust noise.

Scott dedicated the car to the late Jeff Carlson who was an avid restorer of cars in Minonk.

The engine is a flat head V8 taken from a 1949 Ford truck. It has 2 Stromberg carburetors.

Scott wanted to put in a bench seat that was similar to the original so he took a bench seat from another car and cut 4 inches out of the middle so that it would fit inside the car.
