Cub Scout Pack 78 held a tree planting on Sunday, June 4.  The pack had raised funds to buy 4 white oak trees to donate to the city.  The pack chose the white oak because it is the Illinois state tree.  The four trees represent the four branches of Cub Scouts:  Tiger, Bear, Wolf, Webelos.  The Holland family also donated seven walnut trees to the cause.

The city designated spots for planting around the pond next to the Shell truck stop.  Scouts and their families worked hard digging holes, planting, watering and mulching all of the trees.  Scouts who participated in this event earned a patch for the "Good Turn for America" program in Cub Scouting.
