Minonk area hit with heavy rain again
Monday, May 27, 2013 - Posted 8:04:49 PM
The Minonk area received over 3.5 inches of rain Sunday night and Monday morning. The deluge resulted in flooded fields in the country and flooded yards in the city. Some of the flooded farm fields will have to be replanted as the farmers had just completed much of their spring planting after a 10 day reprieve from the relentless rain that has soaked the area this spring.
Rain is forecast for the rest of the week with heavy rains forecast for next Friday. So it looks like late planting of soybeans and replanting of some corn. Below are pictures showing flooding conditions in the Minonk area.

Crow creek west of Minonk overflowed its banks again.

This field will need to be replanted after the water recedes as the corn was just planted last week.

Earthworms lie on the road after being washed onto the road from the overflow of the flooded field.

The field behind West Fourth Street was flooded again despite the newly installed storm sewer system in 2012. This field is looking west from Elm Court.
