Rep. Kinzinger Reaction to Madigan Budget for Illinois

WASHINGTON, DC - Yesterday, the Illinois House passed a budget for the 2017 fiscal year. Under Speaker Madigan, the Democrats in the statehouse have pushed the budget despite protests from IL House Republicans and Governor Rauner. Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) released the following statement in response to the budget:

"Springfield has always had its issues, but last night's antics surrounding the budget vote have made it impossible for me not to speak out. The budget, and the vote itself, highlight the utter lack of leadership and civility from Speaker Madigan. It is incredibly irresponsible to put Illinois in greater debt by passing a budget that adds $7 billion in debt. Forcing an unbalanced budget down the throats of his colleagues and then abruptly adjourning – this is not leadership. I would urge my Democrat friends to find new leadership for the good of the state and the people of Illinois."
