Fieldcrest High School held its annual Academic Honors Night on Tuesday, May 15, 2012.
American Legion Awards--Melvin Matter presented the American Legion Awards to Mollie Healy and Joshua Alden for their leadership, honor, courage, scholarship, service and patriotism.
Girls State—Mary Salz presented a certificate to Lesley Hakes and Caitlin Pongracz who will be attending Girls State this summer.
U.S. Marine Corps, Scholastic Excellence Award--Sgt. Zachery Whitsitt, U.S. Marine Corp. presented the Scholastic Excellence Award to Kayeli Garber and Philip Rinehart.
U.S. Marine Corps, Distinguished Athlete Award—Sgt. Zachery Whitsitt, U.S. Marine Corp. presented the Distinguished Athlete Award to Taylor Nichols and Matthew Baxter.
U.S. Marine Corps, Semper Fidelis Award--Sgt. Zachery Whitsitt, U.S. Marine Corp. presented the Semper Fidelis Award to Greg Wolf.
U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete--StaffSgt. Shawn Woolsey, U.S. Army Reserve provided the National Scholar/Athlete Award to Matthew Baxter and Taylor Nichols.
DAR Award--JonathanHostetler presented the Daughters of the American Revolution award. DAR is presented to the senior who is selected by faculty and students for the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Philip Rinehart was named Fieldcrest DAR Award recipient.
SAR Award--Jonathan Hostetler presented the Sons of the American Revolution award. SAR is based on the same qualifications as DAR and Taylor Nichols was recognized for being selected by the faculty and students at FHS. Both Philip and Taylor were honored at a banquet earlier this year.
Wenona Junior Women's Club/Wenona Chamber of Commerce Scholarship--Wenona Junior Women's Club/Wenona Chamber of Commerce Scholarship was presented by Mary Salz to Brady Fulkerson.
Will Salz Creativity Award--Mary Salz presented the Will Salz Creativity Award to Katherine Wudtke.
Katy Lyons Scholarship—Gail Wyss presented the Katy Lyons Scholarship to Katherine Wudtke.
Art Guild Honor Cords—Gail Wyss presented Art Guild honor cords to be worn at graduation to Randi Beck, Kelly Breyne, Christalynn Jenkins, Audie Lauf, Hannah Redenius, Mikayla Stewart, Kristine Tarmann, Jenna Woerner, and Katherine Wudtke. These students earned a B+ or higher in Art for all eight semesters.
Jaclyn Park Memorial Scholarship—Gail Wyss presented the Jaclyn Park Memorial Scholarship to Hannah Redenius.
Yearbook Awards--Jeanette Peifer recognized yearbook staff for their contribution in publishing "The Shield." Those recognized were Leahmay Baker, Allyson Bane, Matthew Baxter, Matthew Gerardo, Trent Hartzler, Seth Kingen, Reed Klendworth, Jordan Lane, Tiffany Lindsay, Taylor Nichols, Miranda Prosser, Hannah Redenius, Marcelo Reynoso, Brady Sanders, Jordan Schultz, Katie Schultz, Shantel Stalter and Katherine Wudtke.
IHSA All-State Academic Team Nominee--William Lapp presented Illinois High School Association All-State Academic Team Nominee to Austin Stremlau.
HOIC All-Conference Academic Achievement Awards--The Heart of Illinois All-Conference Academic Achievement Awards were presented by William Lapp. The Heart of Illinois Conference Academic All-Conference Award is presented to those seniors who participate in a conference sanctioned sport at the varsity level and, most importantly, maintained at least a B+ grade point average.The 2012 Fieldcrest Knight honorees are Matthew Baxter, Jeremy Flahaven, Ryan Harms, Mollie Healy, Laurynne Hillenburg, Taylor Nichols, Philip Rinehart, Austin Stremlau, Kristine Tarmann, Greg Wolf and Katherine Wudtke.
Perfect Attendance--Vickie Fitzgerald presented Perfect Attendance awards to those students who had perfect attendance for the entire 2011-2012 school year. Those students were: freshmen, Dalton Albright, Caleb Block and Dania Zuniga; sophomores, Maria Baldwin, Joseline Flores, Jeremy North (Jeremy has had perfect attendance for two years of high school) and Brandon Pongracz; juniors, Tyler Lindsay (Tyler has had perfect attendance for two years of high school), Lucas Salz and Jordan Schultz; seniors, Brittany Lindsay and Jeremy Flahaven.
Key Club Awards and Key Club/American Red Cross Scholarships--Cindi Koudelka presented Medallions to senior Key Club members. Those members were Josh Alden, Kelly Breyne, Anthony Cook, Zach Edwards, Jeremy Flahaven, Kayeli Garber, Lucas Gaspardo, Ryan Harms, Laurynne Hillenburg, Patrick Luckey, Philip Rinehart, Michael Roeing-Donna, Luke Rogers, Austin Stremlau and Kristine Tarmann. The Key Club/American Red Cross Scholarships were presented to Jeremy Flahaven and Laurynne Hillenburg.
National Career Readiness Certificates--National Career Readiness Certificates were presented by William Lapp and Vickie Fitzgerald to Faith Alpiser, Zachary Charlier, Marcus Christensen, Kayeli Garber, Ryan Harms, Nicholas Kuhl, Shannon McKay, William Milashoski, Marcelo Reynoso, Philip Rinehart, Patrick Russell, Kimber Schmitt, Kristine Tarmann, Kevin Testin, Jenna Woerner, Katherine Wudtke and Anthony Zurinski.
Bloomington Area Career Center Technical Honor Society-- Bloomington Area Career Center Technical Honor Society members were recognized by Deb Henderson. Tech Honor Society new members are Kelsey Pratt in Health Occupations and Hector Reynoso in Culinary Arts. Brady Fulkerson was named to the Technical Honor Society in his junior year. Brady Fulkerson was also recognized for being the the EMT "Student of the Year." Brady Fulkerson was also awarded the Normal Rotary Scholarship, the Diane Garrett "Just Do It," Scholarship and the Career and Technical Education Scholarship. Hector Reynoso was recognized for being awarded the "Apprentice Chef."
Academic Challenge Awards--Deborah Henderson presented awards to members of the 2012 Academic Challenge Team. Team members are Faith Alpiser, Calee Boedigheimer, Kelly Breyne, Jeremy Flahaven, Amy Gensler, Ryan Harms, Laurynne Hillenburg, Miranda Jenkins, William Milashoski, Taylor Nichols, Grant Palmore, Nick Panzica, Caitlin Pongracz, Marcelo Reynoso, Philip Rinehart, Michael Roeing-Donna, Austin Stremlau, Grace Sunken and Kristine Tarmann. Michael Roeing-Donna placed third in the mathematics competition at the district Academic Challenge competition held at LaSalle-Peru High School.
Toluca Rotary Club—Liz Uphoff presented the award on the behalf of the Toluca Rotary Club for community service and academic excellence to Greg Wolf.

Senior of the Year--Senior of the Year award was recognized by Mike Flahaven of the Wenona State Bank which sponsored the Senior of the Month program. One senior is selected as Senior of the Year from the students selected monthly. 2012 Senior of the Year was Philip Rinehart.
Dick Bernardi Spirit Scholarship—Dick Bernardi Spirit Scholarship sponsored by Windsor Foods was presented by Bill Moline to Greg Wolf.
Fieldcrest Education Association Scholarship—Cindi Koudelka represented the Fieldcrest Education Association scholarship to Jessica Lipinski.
Illinois State Scholars--Deb Henderson and William Lapp recognized Fieldcrest's Illinois State Scholars:Faith Alpiser, Kayeli Garber, Laurynne Hillenburg, Shannon McKay, Taylor Nichols, Philip Rinehart and Kristine Tarmann.
Nucor Corporation Community Scholarship--Mark Weers, Plant Manager of the American Buildings branch of Nucor Corporation presented the Nucor Corporation Community Scholarship to Matthew Baxter.
Vic and Lois Malcom Memorial Scholarship—Ken Hartke from El Paso Kiwanis Club presented the Vic and Lois Malcom Scholarship to Kristine Tarmann.
Stefanie Carls Memorial Scholarship—William Lapp presented the Stefanie Carls Memorial Scholarship to Laurynne Hillenburg.
Jamie Hansen Memorial Scholarship—Beth Miller presented the Jamie Hansen Memorial Scholarship to Laurynne Hillenburg.
Martha Swann Scholarships—Reverend Cynthia Taylor presented Martha Swann Scholarships to Amber Kleppin, Hannah Redenius, Kayeli Garber and Laurynne Hillenburg.
Fieldcrest High School seniors and their parents were recognized for academic and/or athletic scholarships totaling over $372,610.
Salutatorians of the Class of 2012 was Shannon McKay and Kristine Tarmann.
Valedictorian of the Class of 2012 was Kayeli Garber.
A reception for the award winners immediately followed the program.
