Recycling Bin set up behind City Hall

Monday, May 12, 2008 - Posted 11:40:31 AM

Minonk residents will no longer have curb side recycling.  Instead, a recycling bin has been installed behind City Hall where residents may take their recyclables.  Recyclables include paper, plastic, aluminum and steel cans.

All recyclables must be washed and all newspaper and cardboard must be put in plastic bags.  Below are the other requirements for recycling objects.

Glass:  No lids.  Rinsed and labels removed.

Plastics:  #1 Beverage bottles and #2 bottles(dairy, detergent, etc.)only.  No motor oil, anti-freeze or petroleum containers.  All lids must be removed and containers rinsed.

Aluminum and steel cans:  Must be rinsed.

Hazardous waste is not allowed.

We live in the rural area a couple miles from Minonk, we would like to recycle in the new recycling bin. Will that be allowed??? This will be much more convenient and economical because of the gas price than for us to drive to Bloomington.
